Use a defined query export

Export a complete date range and record the property, search type, device and country filters. Keep query text separate from page-level totals. Remove personal information before using a public utility or sharing a worksheet. A cluster built from your own queries is a planning aid for the audience already finding you; it is not a complete estimate of market demand.

Preserve the words that change the task

Terms such as free, pricing, tutorial and download may distinguish different needs. Do not discard them merely because they occur often. For example, utm builder and online utm builder can reasonably describe one task, while utm attribution troubleshooting may need a different explanation. Review the wording and the destination page together before merging rows.

Use token grouping as a first pass

The OurJS planner groups queries by overlap with each existing cluster seed. A higher threshold produces narrower groups. It does not understand synonyms or search results, and the first query in a group affects later assignments. Run a small sample, inspect the output and change the order or threshold if the result obscures meaningful distinctions.

Map clusters to existing pages before creating URLs

For every useful group, identify whether an existing article or tool already answers it. Improve that page when the task is substantially the same. If two current pages compete for one purpose, inspect their differences before consolidating anything. Keep valuable examples and redirect a retired route only after choosing a suitable surviving destination.

Prioritize gaps with a concrete change

A good action says what will improve: add a comparison table, explain an error state, supply a working example or make a tool easier to use on mobile. Avoid a backlog that consists only of new titles. Keep the evidence beside each action so another editor can understand why the improvement matters to a particular query group.

Review results without changing the cohort silently

After publication, compare the same page and query filters over complete periods. Track impressions and clicks as well as position, and record whether additional query variations appear. A cluster can help organize the review, but its aggregate should not hide a strong improvement for one query and a decline for another.

text / WORKED EXAMPLE
Cluster: campaign URL creation
Queries: utm builder; online utm builder; utm campaign builder
Existing page: /tools/utm-builder/
Change: clearer required fields and a working email example
Review: same page/query filters after 28 complete days

Frequently asked questions

Does word overlap establish identical intent?

No. It is a starting point for manual review. Read the queries, inspect existing content and consider the actual task.

Should I create one page for every query?

No. One strong page can answer several variations of the same task.
